You can register to vote in Wisconsin in several ways:

  • Online or by mail: through March 18, 2026 for the April 7 election
  • In person at the clerk’s office: through 5 p.m. on April 3, 2026
  • At in-person absentee voting sites: during approved early-voting hours, except the Saturday, Sunday, and Monday before Election Day
  • At your polling place on Election Day: same-day registration is allowed (no need to worry- there are plenty of people to help you at your closest polling location!)

If you are registering, bring proof of residence. For UW–Madison students, that can include a Voter Enrollment Verification Letter, a lease, a utility bill, a bank statement, or a UW fee statement.

(If you do not have a Wisconsin ID, you may also use the last few digits of your Social Security Number)
