Photo ID is required to vote in person in Wisconsin. Your ID must show your name and photo. The address on the ID does not need to match your current address.
Accepted photo IDs include:
- Wisconsin driver’s license
- Wisconsin state ID
- U.S. passport
- Veterans Affairs ID
- Tribal ID
- UW voter ID card, if it meets Wisconsin requirements
For UW students: your regular Wiscard is not valid for voting. UW–Madison students can get a free voter-compliant ID from the Wiscard Office at Union South.
If you are registering when you vote, also bring proof of residence.
If you arrive without acceptable photo ID, you may be able to cast a provisional ballot. To have it counted, you must present acceptable ID to the clerk by the required deadline after the election.
